A/Prof Peter Lazzarini receives Australian Diabetes Society Jeff Flack Diabetes Data Award

Peter Lazzarini wins Australian Diabetes Society Jeff Flack Diabetes Data AwardAssociate Professor Peter Lazzarini, Conjoint Research Fellow (Podiatry) at AusHSI, was presented with the Australian Diabetes Society Jeff Flack Diabetes Data Award at the ADS Annual General Meeting 2026, held on 20 August during the joint International Diabetes Federation Western Pacific Region Congress (IDF-WPR), Australian Diabetes Congress (ADC) and Metabolic Diseases (MBD) in Melbourne.

Named after Professor Jeff Flack, an innovative leader in diabetes research and care, the ADS Jeff Flack Diabetes Data Award recognises an Australian researcher who has made an outstanding contribution to diabetes data collection in Australia.

Establishing some of the world’s largest diabetes foot disease registries that have identified major predictors of poor outcomes for people with diabetes-related foot disease (DFD), A/Prof Lazzarini’s DFD research projects have delivered significant reductions in hospitalisations and amputations in Australia. His broader research program has influenced international organisations, guidelines, standards, policies and registries used in more than 100 countries and by over one million clinicians globally.

The award reflects A/Prof Lazzarini’s dedication to advancing diabetes research and strengthening the evidence that drives better health outcomes nationwide.
